Efforts Made for Local Communities

 

In the course of servicing its 19 subsidiaries and 31 systems, J:COM is also making continuous efforts to cooperate with the local communities it serves.

 

Established Presence in the LocalCommunities

Station Office/Car

The company's system office is the primary launchpad for theactivities in each area and an important place to connect customersto J:COM and visa versa. Thus, each system is making variousefforts to become the regional symbol.

In Itabashi station, the 1st floor lobby is named as "J:COM munityPark" to be used as a community space for local people.

Moreover, on the wall of the lobby is the wall sheet with thedesign of Cartoon Network character to appeal the benefits of cableTV. Also, in Yamato station, there is a "Kid's Play Space" for thecommunity children to enjoy playing.

J:COM cars driven regularly around thearea have also become familiar within the community.
In addition to J:COM logos, there are designs of various charactersthat appear on J:COM TV, attracting the stares of passers-by.

Anticrime Patrol

"Anticrime Patrols" that have been sequentially formed in variousregions since April 2004, cooperate with the local police stations,so that the patrollers quickly report to the police in case ofdetecting prediction of crimes. Such contribution to the localcommunity is possible since the company's staff is always goingaround and visiting within the community.

Participation in the Local Events

J:COM staff is actively involved in both local events andfestivals. In the Awa Folk Dance Festival in Yamato City, J:COMYamato Station acted as an executive committee and actuallyparticipated in the dance. Also, J:COM sponsored character showsand other events are hosted in each area to entertain the communitypeople.

Local Contribution via Broadcasting

J:COM has an original channel called "Community Channel". Theprograms for this channel include "Area Spot" differing by eachsystem, "Region Spot" arranged by each neighboring area, and"National Spot" maximizing the effect of the company group network.The fine-tuned and detailed arrangement offers customers enjoyableand original J:COM programs, while also maintaining the regionalcharacteristics.

Media Center

The local broadcast system is made possible by the "MediaCenter".

Tokyo Media Center started in full swing this year, and is creatingprograms including 12 titles for 4 stations within the Tokyoregion. As a result of integrating the production teams of eachstation, the staffs' professionalism and efficiency have enhanced.Large scale programs such as live coverage of festivals becamepossible, and a high quality system has been organized with theunique characteristics of cable television.
