About service

What is the difference from J:COM WiMAX 2+?

With J:COM WiMAX +5G S and J:COM WiMAX +5G, in addition to the WiMAX 2+ area, some areas of au's 5G and 4G LTE can now be used at no additional charge.
This allows for a wider and faster internet connection.

What is the communication speed during 5G communication?

For mobile routers, the maximum downstream speed is 3.9Gbps / 183Mbps upstream, and for home routers, the maximum downstream speed is 4.2Gbps / 286Mbps upstream.
However, since it uses a best-effort method, it does not guarantee the speed when you actually connect to the Internet.
The communication speed varies depending on the radio wave conditions, line congestion, and the device you are using.

Do I need any special settings to use 5G communication?

If your location is in the au 5G service area, it will automatically switch to 5G communication.

Is there a way to check if 5G communication is possible?

In the case of a mobile router, the currently connected communication (WiMAX/4G/5G) will be displayed on the display of the J:COM WiMAX compatible device, so you can check it here.
If you are using a home router, you can check from a web browser on your computer or a smartphone app.

What is Plus Area Mode?

This communication mode allows you to use au 4G LTE and au 5G communication over a wider range than the normal communication mode (standard mode).
You can check the areas where Plus Area Mode is available from Area/Communication Quality.
You can switch the communication mode (standard mode ⇔ plus area mode) on the display of the J:COM WiMAX compatible device for mobile routers, or on the web browser (configuration tool) of your computer or smartphone app for home routers. I will do it.
In the month in which you use Plus Area Mode, a separate optional usage fee will be charged, and an optional fee of 1,000 yen (1,100 yen including tax) will be charged the following month.

Is there an upper limit or limit on the monthly communication volume?

There is no upper limit on the monthly communication volume when using the normal communication mode (standard mode).
However, in order to avoid network congestion, if a large amount of data communication is used within a certain period of time, the communication speed may be restricted during busy hours.

Where can I use J:COM WiMAX? Please tell me your service area.

You can check the current service area and future expansion plans from Area/Communication Quality.

Are there any areas within the WiMAX service area where it cannot be used?

Since radio waves are used for communication, it cannot be used in places where radio waves do not reach, such as tunnels, underground, indoors, behind buildings, and in mountainous areas, even within the WiMAX service area. Also, if you move to a location with poor signal strength while using the service, communication may be cut off.

Does the communication speed change depending on the usage environment?

It varies depending on the WiMAX signal conditions at the location where you are using it, as well as the personal computer you are using and electronic devices that can connect to the Internet. Due to the nature of radio waves, the state of radio waves fluctuates from moment to moment. Please use the radio wave status displayed on the device or app you are using as a guideline.
