About application

I would like to join the insurance. Are there any conditions?

Anyone who meets the following conditions can apply.

  • Individuals who are adults on the date of application (persons under the age of 18 can be insured)
    *Corporations cannot apply.
  • Those living in Japan
  • Those who can correctly understand, read and write the terms and conditions, important matters manual, and other application documents in Japanese.

However, we may not be able to accept your contract in accordance with the terms and conditions. Please note.
The named insured person can be the policyholder living in Japan or a relative (within the second degree of kinship) of the policyholder. (*“Family smartphone insurance” includes the policyholder’s partner)
Additionally, ``Home Ownership Insurance'' requires that the named insured or the named insured's relatives own all or part of the home covered by the insurance. (You cannot apply for duplicate insurance for the same house.)

I haven't received a completion email, what should I do?

There are the following possibilities.

Will my premium change if I use insurance?

Even if the premium is paid, the premium will not change.

When will my insurance premium be deducted?

Insurance premiums are deducted at the end of each month. However, the specific payment date depends on the payment method selected.

When does compensation start?

The start date of coverage (insurance start date) varies depending on the application date.

  • If you apply between the 1st and 20th of each month: Coverage will start from the 1st of the following day. You can also choose to start from the 1st of the following month.
  • If you apply between the 21st and the end of the month: Coverage will start from the 1st of the following month.

What is the waiting period?

The waiting period is a period from the start of the contract during which insurance claims will not be paid even if an accident occurs.

Can I cancel?

Always possible.

If you wish to cancel your contract, please contact J:COM Insurance Customer Center in person.
Once canceled, you cannot resubscribe for 180 days.

Is cooling-off possible?

You can withdraw your application (cooling-off) within 8 days (postmark valid) from the date of application.
Send it to us using one of the following methods, stating that you are cooling off the application for ●● (name of the insurance product you applied for), as well as the name, address, phone number, and date of application of the insurance applicant. please.

  • Mail (sealed letter or postcard): In addition to filling out the necessary information, the insurance applicant's seal is required.
  • Website: Please select "Other" on the inquiry form on J:COM Small Amount and Short Term Insurance website and fill in the information necessary for your inquiry.
Do you have cancellation refunds?

There is no cancellation refund.

About family smartphone insurance

Are there any conditions for equipment eligible for compensation?

Smartphones and tablets that meet the following conditions can be covered.

  • The device is intended for general household use.
  • As of the date of application, the device must be within 5 years of its new release, be in full working order, and have no external damage.
  • Must be a genuine manufacturer's product sold in Japan, and be a device that displays the "Technical Conformity Mark"
Can equipment used by my family be covered by insurance?

Yes, equipment owned or used by the named insured and his or her family members who live together can be insured.

Can I still get insurance even if there is a breakdown or damage before I apply for insurance?

No, equipment that is broken or damaged before application cannot be insured.
Please note that you will be required to accurately notify the status of your device at the time of enrollment; however, if you enter into a contract by providing false information or if you attempt to defraud insurance money, you may be subject to criminal penalties for fraud. .

Can I register devices that have been purchased for some time?

Yes, you can apply for coverage for your device within five years of the date it was first released.

The following three conditions are required for equipment to be eligible for compensation.

  • Items used only for the insured person's household use
  • All functions of the device are operating normally on the date of application or the date of application for device registration, and there is no damage to the exterior.

Can I also register a smartphone or tablet that I bought secondhand?

Yes, you can apply if a relative or partner who lives with the named insured person owns or uses the smartphone.

Can one person apply for multiple devices?

Yes, you can apply for a 2-device plan up to a maximum of 10 devices.

What is the procedure for applying for insurance?

You can apply by following the steps below.

I want to add equipment.

You can add devices from the subscriber page. You can use the plan change procedure depending on the number of devices you wish to add.

Is it okay to take photos with the protective film attached when registering the model?

As long as you can confirm that there are no scratches on the protective film, there is no problem in taking pictures with it on. If there are scratches on the film, please remove the film before taking the photo, as the body may also be judged as having scratches.

What are the repair costs covered?

This is the cost of repairs or paid replacements necessary to restore the target equipment to the state immediately before the damage occurred. However, the following costs are not included.

  • Costs for transporting and returning the target equipment, bringing in, receiving and other administrative costs.
  • Initial diagnosis fee to obtain a quote
  • Recovery costs, re-creation or re-acquisition costs of data, software or programs, etc.
  • Expenses incurred when an exchange for a different model is offered or when the customer chooses to purchase a different model at their own will.
What is the covered replacement cost?

This is the cost of replacing the covered equipment if it is damaged due to a covered accident and cannot be repaired or replaced for a fee. However, the following costs are not included.

  • Costs incurred in attempting to repair the damaged Covered Equipment or disposal costs of the Covered Equipment
  • Costs required for delivery of equipment to be reacquired and other administrative costs
  • Recovery costs, re-creation or re-acquisition costs of data, software or programs, etc.

What kind of lawyer will you introduce?

What is the difference between legal consultation fees and attorney fees?

Legal consultation fees are expenses incurred when consulting with a lawyer. On the other hand, attorney's fees are the expenses incurred when a contract is concluded with a lawyer and the lawyer actually handles legal services (negotiations, settlements, contract drafting, etc.).

Internet trouble refers to trouble that occurs between you and another person due to the following reasons that occur over the Internet.

  • Leakage of electromagnetic data from target equipment
  • Annoying acts/posting, slander, reputational damage, bullying, impersonation, or threatening acts
  • Acts that infringe on intellectual property rights such as copyrights, portrait rights, trademark rights, patent rights, honor rights, privacy rights, and other legal or contractual rights.

  • Acts such as unauthorized access or malware infection
  • Troubles or criminal acts such as stalking, blackmail, kidnapping, fraud, etc. that occur through dating sites
  • High charges or unfair charges arising from online shopping, online auctions, online flea markets, etc.

About home ownership insurance

Neighborhood troubles refer to troubles that occur with other people in the insured's private life due to the following reasons:

Yes, you can apply if the house is owned in whole or in part by the named insured or a relative of the named insured, and where the named insured resides in Japan.

I live in a rental property, can I sign a contract for "Home Ownership Insurance"?

Rental properties are not eligible. Eligible properties are limited to homes owned and lived in by the insured person, so-called "owner-owned homes."
If you own a home, both single-family homes and apartment complexes are eligible.

Is earthquake compensation also covered?

Damage caused by earthquakes, eruptions, and tsunamis is not covered. Accidents and fires caused by the above are also not covered.
